mom's Snickerdoodles
these can be called pecan crescents, Russian tea cakes, and that would be fine but Mom's snickerdoodles have a special touch from my moms' childhood memories and the best discovery was made when she was just in the hurry to make these yummy treats and didn't let them cool. What a great surprise when you bite into the cookies that were not cooled but put in the powdered sugar hot the are coated in melted powdered sugar.MM yumm . but if you can keep them sealed up for a week or two(best to ship them around the world and back) the real butter only improves the flavor for the most irresistible treat ever! of course y must remember to use real butter!
so here it is!
moms Snickerdoodles
cream 1/2 pound butter and
1/2 cup powdered sugar

then mix in
1 teaspoon vanilla
2 cups flour and
1/2 cup pecans chopped fine
form in small crescents ,bake in hot oven (about 400 degree F) for about 10 min.
don't let them get to brown, just bake until bottom edge get starts to brown,
Roll in powdered sugar while still hot let it melt to the cookies.

now for the explanation for why these are snickerdoodles! when my mom was a little girl, her mom was bakeing an assortment of cookies for the holidays. my mom came in the kitchen and asked what the cookies were called and my grandma told her snickerdoodles thinking that they were the cookies in question so the pecan cresents have always been snickerdoodles to my mom and our family. silly I'm sure and what a disapointment for each ofus as we grew up and were offered snickerdoodles by our friends, as good as they were, they just were not what we were expecting!
now you have my first entry I hope you enjoy! your MOM or friend or sister, Brenda
